About Kicking Horse
The “Horse” as it’s known to most as every skiers dream. There is lot’s of BIG terrain for those on the hunt, long cruisers for those looking for the relaxing experience and everything in between. If you’ve never been to Kicking Horse Mountain Resort, your truly in for a treat with a perfect blend of open bowls and more chutes than you could ski in a week. On top of Kicking Horse’s renowned terrain, they also feature a crazy cool restaurant at the top of the mountain for you to refuel in-between runs!
There’s five lifts servicing 1,375 hectares (3,400 acres) of terrain. The renowned lift is the Gondy out of the base area – the Golden Eagle express. This bad boy allows top to bottom runs ALL day! If you feel like staying up top, there’s the Stairway to heaven Quad that services Redemption Ridge. This is great for making many laps in Crystal Bowl and all the runs on that side of the ridge. Plus, it opens up the access to Feuz bowl, featuring spectacular DB terrain.
If you found the cruisers at the bottom more to your liking you can lap those on the Catamount Quad, great for those loving up the Green and Blue runs near the base. Finally, the Pioneer double chair will feed you into some pretty quiet terrain on climbers left out of the base. Some good stashes to be found in here.
Is the “Horse” for everyone? Sure! There’s a way down from every chair that speaks to the heart of every type of rider. There’s a story for every person waiting at the top of every Lift. If you get the chance to ride the Horse, take it! You’ll be counting the days until you get to go back!
