For the avid snowseekers, or those simply seeking an epic ski/boarding adventure, you NEED to experience Catskiing! Two full days of untouched, deep powder! A good mix of wide open powder cruising runs with some more technical, naturally-gladed tree areas to test your abilities. Due to the nature of Mica Mountain, the runs are consistent fall-line skiing with no flat traversing required. Participants will also be treated to some of the best views the Canadian Rockies have to offer, including a brilliant panoramic of British Colombia’s famous Mount Robson! The trip includes accommodation at Valemount’s Best Western Hotel!
Cariboo Snowcat provides fully licensed, professional mountain guides to ensure the group’s safety. One will lead the group and one will tail for added safety. They have a vast knowledge of the local area, avalanche rescue and first aid training. Participants are equipped with a transceiver and a lightweight avalanche pack to ride with including rescue essentials. On the first day, all participants will receive professional instruction on how to use the gear as well as how to mitigate and respond to hazards.
Skiing is done in short, staggered pitches with a buddy system. This keeps the group together, but also allows you to pick your own powder line with less risk of a collision. With these safety precautions in place, people from first time powder riders to the most experienced will enjoy this CAT adventure! That being said, participants should be comfortable on black diamond rated runs.
Rates are per person and include, first day avalanche safety demonstration, personal transceivers, heated snowcat rides between runs, accommodation at the Best Western in Valemount, lunch on the mountain, and all taxes!
*Very limited seating, only 14 spots per trip sold on a first-come first-served basis.
*Because the group is so small, these trips do not include transportation.
