We’ve got you covered. Discover Downhill is built for beginners who want to learn the basics, feel confident, and have fun on the mountain — without the stress of figuring everything out on your own.
You’ll learn on slow, beginner-friendly terrain, and instead of a chairlift, you’ll ride a magic carpet — an easy conveyor belt that gently brings you uphill. No tricky lift to get on or off. Just step on, ride up, and focus on having fun.
The instructors are patient, experienced, and love helping people who are brand new. No pressure, no stress — just a safe, welcoming way to learn at your own pace.

How do I book this package?
You will book just like any MagicBus to Marmot adventure. Click “book now” to start the process, and select Marmot Basin. Then select MagicBus to Marmot Basin (Daybus & Overnight Service). Choose your date(s), and start adding your participant(s). When you get the Activity section, switch from skiing/boarding to “Discover Downhill. Your rate will automatically be adjusted. Complete your booking and you are done!
When should I book?
Because seats fill quickly—especially on Saturdays and Holidays—you should book as soon as you know your plans.
Generally, for day trips if you book 7 days in advance you should get a spot, and for overnights you want to book 7+ days or more in advance to ensure availability.
If the bus you want to join is sold out, you can call us to be put on a waitlist and we will contact you if seats become available.
Do I need any experience?
Nope! This lesson is for those who have never stepped foot in a ski or snowboard. The instructors will help you through understanding your gear, to making your very first turn.
What if I have skied a few times before? Is it still for me?
The lesson is tailored for absolute beginners. If you still feel like you would benefit from this lesson, you are completely welcome to join!
That said, if you are comfortable on blue and black runs, this lesson is probably not for you. Contact us and we can also arrange a lesson more suited to your abilities.
I thought the mountains were not for beginners?
Lots of people think the mountains are big and scary, and therefore not for beginners. This is NOT the case. Marmot Basin has a beginner area that is no more difficult than being at your local ski hill. The views are a bit better though…
And when you are more comfortable to venture beyond the learning area, there are green runs that are still 100% suited to beginners, they are just nice and long to give you more time practicing and less time on the chairlift.
The mountains are for everyone, no matter your skill level.
What gear is included and what do I need to bring?
All the necessary skiing/snowboarding gear will be provided. This includes skis/snowboard, boots and bindings, a helmet, and poles (for skiers).
You will need to bring winter clothing gear such as jacket, snow pants, gloves, and layers to keep yourself warm. Goggles are also nice to have to help protect your eyes from sun and wind.
What if I need to cancel?
You can cancel 48 hours or more prior to departure to receive a full refund.
